This term we had Artist Annette Grace Peterson visit Servite for an incursion where she taught our Year 11 students how to paint in an En Plein Air style.
This challenged the students to pain quickly to create impressions of the landscapes they were observing. This took them out of their comfort zone where they are used to being more precise and working at a slower pace and in a more methodical fashion.
Our amazing students managed to complete 3 paintings in 4 hours!
For the excursion we all travelled to Hyde Park to photograph, draw and paint the landscapes within. We started off walking around the park to take several photographs for future paintings. We then found a location and set up our equipment to spend the next few hours drawing and painting the landscape. We then came back to school to finish off the 2 paintings after lunch.
Over all our students adapted well to the challenges over the last 2 days. They were immersed in painting landscapes and produced 5 impressions of the landscapes.
