Year 9’s Rottnest Excursion

Topic Learning
Date March 10, 2023

On Friday Week 6 of Term 1, the Year 9 Outdoor Education cohort were fortunate enough to travel to Wadjemup – Rottnest Island, for their Snorkelling Practical Assessment.

The weather Gods were kind to us all, with beautiful 28 degree weather and little breeze all day. The students explored many beaches including The Basic, Little Armstrong Bay and Little Parakeet Bay.

Students were able to snorkel the crystal-clear blue waters and get up face to face with the stunning and active marine life. With the likes of Stingrays, pink snapper, crayfish and many different types of fish for show – the snorkelling value is some of the best in the world.

The tradition of riding the bike around the Island and getting a quokka selfie were achieved throughout the day too!

Well done to all those that participated – you made the ODE Department very proud.
