My favourite memories from my time at Servite would be the Year 10 River Cruise and Year 12 Ball. I think it was the first time we all felt a little grown up, each of us coming together looking and feeling amazing. I also really enjoyed my English classes. It was my favourite subject and I was lucky to always have a passionate and attentive teacher, which only strengthened my love for writing. Now, it’s what I do for a living.
I’m currently a Journalist for 10 News here in Perth, where no two days are ever the same! I cover a range of different news stories, from the confronting to the heartwarming. It’s an extremely fast-paced and dynamic environment; you truly do see it all. When news breaks, it’s a mad scramble and the adrenaline is pumping, but that’s what makes it exciting. I’m incredibly fortunate to be challenged daily and surrounded by an amazing team. I genuinely love what I do!
After graduating I completed my undergraduate degree at Curtin University, with a double major in Journalism and Public Relations. I spent those 4 years doing a lot of different work experience placements across both industries. In 2021 I was accepted into ECU’s Postgraduate Diploma of Broadcasting, which was the best thing I have ever done. I landed my first full-time job the following year, as an Audio Journalist across both Triple M and Mix 94.5fm, reading and writing radio news. After that, I went into television and spent two and a half years living in Bunbury, working as a Reporter with GWN (now called 7News Regional WA). I did a bit of everything, including present the weather, report on news of the day and put the nightly bulletin together. I would often cover a shift for 7News here in Perth on the weekends – which meant no days off (and a long commute!) but that time and experience was truly invaluable.
When I’m not chasing a news story (sometimes quite literally) you’ll find me either spending quality time with my friends and family, in a Pilates class or on a plane.
