Last week, our Year 10 students recently embarked on a powerful two-day retreat centred around their Servite Way focus: “I Choose.” The theme “Courage to Choose” invited students to reflect deeply on the influences in their lives and how they can be a positive force in the world.
Day One took place at the Telethon Speech and Hearing Centre, where students engaged in creative workshops exploring Marian Courage. They discussed the people and experiences shaping their values and participated in a reflective sand mandala meditation, encouraging peace and mindful decision-making.
Day Two led students to Optus Stadium and the serene banks of the Swan River. Here, they were immersed in a First Nations Cultural Experience, learning about the traditions, daily lives, and values of our city’s First Peoples. This experience offered a meaningful opportunity to honour the past and consider choices that contribute to a more respectful and inclusive future.
The day concluded with a tour of Optus Stadium, where students reflected on the journey of elite athletes – the grit, courage, and resilience it takes to rise above challenges and achieve greatness.
These two days were more than a retreat – they were a journey of reflection, connection, and inspiration. Our students left empowered, knowing they have the courage to choose a path of purpose and positivity.
