2024 LDC Futures Expo

Topic Community
Date February 22, 2024

Servite College were delighted to host the inaugural Futures Expo within the Learning Diversity Centre on Wednesday evening. The Futures Expo was designed to provide parents and caregivers of students with a disability further information about future study, training and employment opportunities.

Parents and caregivers of Year 10-12 LDC students were invited to meet representatives from organisations such as WorkPower, Edge Employment, Bizlink, and Life Without Barriers. All these organisations offer fantastic opportunities for our students to prepare for the world of work and life beyond school.

“One of my goals for this year is to enhance our Transition to Adult Life program for our Learning Diversity students. Alongside our current, successful Workplace Learning Program, we have introduced a small business class called Enterprise for Year 10s and Cert 1 classes for our Year 11 and 12s.. Events such as the Futures Expo highlight the importance of such programs in preparing our students and their families for the transition to adult life. There is support out there for our families, but it can be overwhelming to know where to start. The Futures Expo serves to simplify the process and to guide families in the right direction. We have already had some very positive feedback from those in attendance and would love to host more events in the future.”

A huge thank you to WorkPower, Edge Employment, Bizlink and Life Without Barriers for attending the event, and an extended thanks to the Learning Diversity team for hosting the Futures Expo and to Servite Chef, Divye and his team for the wonderful refreshments.
