Year 10 Family, Community & You

Topic Learning
Date June 9, 2023

Our Year 10 students received a few special visitors this week as part of their Family, Community and You class.

This term the focus has been on care options for babies, including day-care and mother’s groups. In order to prepare to run a mother’s group, students investigated safe spaces for babies, safe toys and safe holding of babies, as well as childhood nutrition for babies and toddlers. Servite parents were then invited to attend a class along with their babies so students could learn a little more about what having a newborn and young baby is like and put some of their learning into practice.

Students started preparing for the visit by making baby blankets and hand crafting gorgeous nursery mobiles. They also made delicious morning tea with foods and snacks based on the information they had learnt and other dietary requirements.

The students thoroughly enjoyed serving the parents and interacting with the little ones, we hope the parents enjoyed the food that was prepared and a chance to have both hands free and time to have a bite and a cuppa.
