Grazie mille to all the students, parents and families that assisted in the Year 10, 11 and 12 Italian Film Feast. It was such a joy to see such amazing food prepared lovingly by your families. Torte, cannoli, zeppole, piatti di antipasto con la salsiccia fatta in casa, un bel piatto di frutta, insomma c’era di tutto! Please say grazie to your beautiful families for preparing such a great grazing table to wish our Year 12s “In bocca al lupo” for their exams and their futuro.
It was simply delightful to see our students sharing their cultural heritage and a variety of food prepared by their mamme e nonne. After our delicious banquet we moved into the Seven Founders Auditorium (which became our very own Cinema Paradiso for the afternoon) and watched a movie that is a poignant reminder to be mindful and enjoy all the little moments in life, because they are the big moments. The movie, “Era Ora” helped our students reflect and discuss important themes together.
Students met and interacted with students from different year groups that are also studying Italian. This was a good opportunity to broaden their social circle and develop a skill that will become ever more important as they venture beyond the school community.
While watching the movie, students were immersed in the Italian language and culture and learned more about the Italian way of life. To borrow a phrase from the movie which was originally coined by John Lennon, “La vita è ciò che ti accade mentre fai altri progetti.”
We look forward to more cultural experiences in the future. Thanks again everyone for your support and cooperation.
